Trevor Ball Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Trevor Ball Memorial Scholarships, a Freshman Scholarship and a Rugby Scholarship, were established by friends and family of Trevor Ball to help both freshmen and undergraduate college students overcome the financial obstacles that challenge many students attempting to earn a college education. These scholarships are awarded in memory of Trevor Frank Ball, who worked very hard for his success and saw everyday as another opportunity. The fund recognizes that there many young people like Trevor who have the potential to do something extraordinary with their lives. We would like to recognize and reward these exceptional young individuals for exhibiting traits that we feel are important to a successful and civil society. Follow the link to learn more.
Derek Brown Memorial Scholarship
Hello Bobcat Community,
It our my privilege and honor to announce the introduction of the Derek Brown Memorial Scholarship. Derek Brown played for the MSU Bobcats Rugby Club until last September when he passed away in a car accident. Derek Brown was a person who embodied academic excellence, commitment to the team, and a willingness to do anything for his teammates. After months of preparation and an extremely generous gift from Cornerstone Management Services, the Derek Brown Memorial Scholarship is ready for the 2016-2017 season.
This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming Sophomore or Junior who has played rugby in high school, will be playing for the Bobcats in the 2016-2017 seasons, and is committed to continuing their academic success at Montana State University. The recipient will be selected by how well they demonstrate these selfless characteristics that made Derek such an important member of our community and our lives.
With the help of the Montana State University Alumni Foundation, this scholarship will be directly applied to the recipient’s tuition, helping alleviate some financial burden. Please reach out if you wish to help us grow this scholarship to benefit more members in the future.
Our goal as a club has remained constant from the founding; build a platform where young men can develop into selfless and positive contributors of the community. This is an important step forward in this pursuit. And it is my personal hope that this scholarship will continue to help players for generations to come, leaving a legacy befitting of Derek’s memory.
