Dear Supporter,

Your Montana State Men’s Rugby Club entered this season with a tight core of veterans and our largest recruiting class yet– 15, including 2 international exchange students. Now competing in Division 1 against the top clubs in the nation, our players are dedicated to becoming a nationally renowned rugby program.

Our current starting 23-man lineup includes ten freshmen, six sophomores, four juniors and three seniors. The young side found their groove at home October 3rd against regional rival Utah State. The forward pack rumbled through, paving the way for a physical 11-7 victory on a 40-degree afternoon. One home match remains this season on October 31 v. Western Colorado State.

Understanding Champions Do Extra and Better People Make Better Bobcats, we recognize the importance of our community involvement. And we have continued our service at the Community Café on weeknights. We have also recently partnered with the Senior and Retired Volunteer Program to help elderly citizens with odd jobs around their homes. The club also entered a number of PE classes over the summer in efforts to build a youth program in the valley. With your support, we’ll continue to progress toward sustained success. Our focus extends beyond our aspirations to bring a national title to Bozeman. We intend to recruit, retain and graduate young men, preparing them for life beyond Montana State. Fundamental values of respect, humility and accountability required for success in rugby translate seamlessly off the pitch.

Funds raised short term will be used for an equipment shed to house our pads and gear, video recording equipment and immediate travel expenses. Long-term we hope to establish a Bobcat Rugby Scholarship Fund and expand our coaching staff to match the competitive advantages of our D-1 rivals.

Any contribution toward this effort is extremely appreciated and we’re happy to return the favor with MSU Rugby gear. Select the SUPPORT tab above for information on how to make a contribution. Wishing you another safe and comforting holiday season, thank you.

All the best,

Matt Asaro

Captain and VP, Montana State Men’s Rugby Club
